Some dude strikes again

Yesterday some dude rear-ended me on my way to my night float shift. I sat peacefully in a line of traffic on an off-ramp when he rudely awakened me from my hopeful reverie about the coming night of hospital admissions and cross-covering 70 patients I don't know well.

Me: I *just* bought this car!*
SD : Sorry...there's no damage...
Me: Yeah, ok. Yay for your rubber bumper.
SD (lopes back to his car)
Me: Wait -- What happened there?
SD: I don't know...I thought you would move and then the traffic in front of you stopped.
Me: The traffic had been stopped for 2 minutes. No one ever moved!
SD: Oh...
Me: Are you high?

After my bumper got slammed my team got slammed in the ED harder than I imagined possible. My back is jacked and I'm thrilled that I have an appointment with my DO for some OMM after work tomorrow. I'm not so thrilled that I have to spend another evening as part of a severely understaffed night float team serving an understaffed day team.

*After totaling my beloved car in a terrible but still incredibly lucky one-car highway accident while rushing to work one morning early during my internship.

Random. I was just going through my old posts I read one you commented on when I bought my new Camry in '07 so I come to check on your blog and it's about a new car! Sorry about the fender bender :/ You are way more patient than I :)

It's nice to hear from you and see where you've been on your blog! I got a slightly used dealer-certified Subaru Legacy and am very happy with it overall. Can you believe it took ~3 years and a totaled car to make it happen? I'm getting heated seats and a remote starter for winter installed today! :-)
