Well, when you put it that way...

Physician:
"There's a chance your memory could worsen faster without the medicine."

Vibrant but memory-impaired patient in her 80s who looks 20 years younger:
"I've been taking medicines since I was a little girl and now that I'm younger I don't want to do it anymore!

So I'll forget everything -- who cares? "[To mild-mannered physician, nearly shouting] "Do you care? I don't care. As long as I'm walking and talking I'm fine! You think it matters to remember what I did yesterday? Well guess what, that's not important to living a good life!"

[30 seconds pass]

[Serenely]
"I don't believe in taking medicines." [Points to daughter] "Did she tell you?"
